DON’T TIE UP TO THE BOLLARDS!!
By admin | March 6, 2008
Bobby Dillman got a skateboard for his 14th birthday. He had wanted it so much for so long that he was beside himself when he saw it. Everything else in his life became gray at that moment. With a shout of thanks to his parents he was off in a cloud of dust. Gary White saw Bobby as he whisked by and grabbed his own skateboard to follow him. In no time the boys found their way to the mall, the center of activity in their small town, and tied up their boards to some small concrete pillars that were placed at intervals across the wide automatic access door to the inside. They didn’t get in, though. A cop came running out shouting & waving his arms.
“You guys can’t tie your boards to those bollards!” he yelled. “ They’re
security bollards! Get the ropes off them now. Bobby and Gary looked blankly at each other.
“These are bollards?” Gary asked. “What are they for?”
“Security!” the cop looked impatient as he herded the boys away from the glass doors.
How can they keep burglars out! They’re spaced so wide apart that people can walk between them! And they’re so short I can jump over them! Gary was starting to take a running leap to prove his point. The security grabbed him just in time. “These pillars look nice with their rounded tops and smooth concrete finish. Don’t mess them up with scuff marks, kid” They serve at least two very important functions right here. They keep cars from trying to drive onto the sidewalk and through the doors, and they protect people standing around from getting hit by cars that are driving by looking for a parking space! Can you guess what else they do for the mall?
Bobby saw that one right away – “You can’t get in between them with a shopping cart!” People can’t steal the carts!”
“Give the kid an A,” muttered the guard, whose name was Jack.
“Spell ‘bollard’ for me,” Gary asked Jack.
“B_O_L_L_A_R_D.” Jack gave himself an A for his patience with these wise guys. “I’ll be you can’t name all the kinds of bollards you can see right from this spot but use your imagination and try.”
“Well, I see some pillars in the parking lot. Are they bollards, too?? Don’t tell me, let me guess, they keep people from parking in the areas they have blocked off with those. They aren’t all marbly looking like these ones, they’re just concrete bollards with rounded tops – and those over there near the entry from the street – they must be traffic bollards!
“Yup!!” They’re precast concrete. Heavy, but we can move them when we want to. Do you wise guys see anything else around here that might fit the name of bollard??”
“Those big concrete pots over there with trees in them, are they some kind of bollards too?”
“You got it kid. Those are garden bollards!”
“I bet if you put some of those in front of city hall it would’ve stopped those crazy truckers from driving up the front steps when they were so mad!”
“Tell your Dad about it,” Jack said. Everybody knew Bobby’s Dad was the City Manager. “By the way, this isn’t a holiday, you guys better get to school!”
“Oh, right,” the boys spoke in unison as they mounted their boards and headed off down the street. The Junior High was down the street they took. It was just a few blocks beyond the concrete skateboard park.

Designing with Office Furniture
By admin | February 17, 2008
It’s time again to redesign your office, your home office and your child’s study room. Where to begin and what is practical for different situations and office environments, there are plenty of styles of office furniture, makes of office equipment, and general functions of office supplies to choose from and we are hoping that this short overview will be of some help to you, by giving you the necessary know-how tips to help you save money and figure out exactly what is important when deciding on anything from new office chairs to a computer desk.
First of all let’s look into our general business office environment. In this environment you need the kind of office furniture like office desks and desk chairs that can help you to get things done efficiently as well as providing a comfortable environment. First of all we need to get our priorities in check. Is our goal strictly comfort ability or is the design of our also necessary? Are we working with a tight budget or can we spend a little more? Basically will be calling the designer office furniture retailer or the discount office furniture retailer. Luckily most office furniture manufactured these days is relatively comfortable. There have been many studies done in the last decade encouraging people to spend more time thinking about ergonomically correct office furniture, and unless you are buying budget you should generally be able to find an office chair that gives you back support or custom computer desks that allow you to do little stretching and twisting at your computers hp work stations.
Now we can think about design. What kind of image do you want your office equipment to show your customers and clients. Do you want high back leather office chairs, together with wood office chairs for your reception furniture? Or do you want something more practical for your call centre like a solid office desk, or even customized computer desks to make sure that all your staff’s needs are met. If you or your staff are working long hours on a computer, specialized computer furniture would be the ideal way to go and easily found and most office furniture retailers and throughout the season you will find office furniture for less like office desks, computer desks, office chairs, and even executive furniture suites at the aforementioned or other places.
For your home office furniture you may also want to think about design but practicality is also important to think about when you may need to use less space for your home office to store your office supplies, as well as accommodate other functions like housing your laptop, bigger speakers as well as educational furniture. Maybe modern office furniture is the right look and functionality or on the other you may want office chairs that fit in with your home decor like wood chairs and computer desks.
So enjoy your search and keep in mind that there is much to choose from and if you keep your eyes and ears open you may just find your next office furniture at 50 percent off at you nearest office furniture center.

SHALL WE GATHER AT THE COMPUTER SCREEN
By admin | December 28, 2007
Technology has been creeping into the conference hosting industry quietly but in a very sure-footed way. Much of today’s conferencing activity is made up of an assortment of technological devices. Large corporations with offices across the country and even abroad are using telephone conferencing and web conferencing to meet with counterparts in far flung offices, or maybe just across town. This new tool allows anyone who needs to interface with other branches or departments across the county and sometimes around the world to get together over the phone. Big business, small business, educators, churches, can all communicate with their cohorts almost anywhere by using audio conferencing devices. By adding web conferencing, they can meet with audiences who can see presentations, take tours, vote in surveys and more at their own computer, in their own office.
All types of groups who have spread out into other locations, are getting into the teleconferencing bandwagon. It has become an effective and convenient way to accomplish many group activities. Conference participants don’t have to drive somewhere, or worse, take a plane. Plane travel has become a bear of late, what with waiting in line, clearing security checks, waiting while the airline reschedules your flight – air travelers have horror stories about trying to get somewhere. Having a seat in first class doesn’t spare you from anything anymore. The answer is definitely teleconferencing — ask any frequent flyer if they would like to bypass all these headaches, and the time lost in transportation to the airport and the boredom and fatigue. The technology involved in setting up a conference varies with the size and complexity of the users’ need. Devices which can be used at the host’s office have been developed. They often can accommodate a large number of participants. They are a little complicated and require a learning curve. Newer technology has been taken up by service providing companies who have stepped forward with plans to make it easy via conference calls which use their own state of the art bridge and providing personnel who are trained in the use of the equipment. They provide operators and a call monitoring center which makes setting up large, complicated conferences simple for their clients. Web conferencing and audio conference conferencing together have proven to be an unbeatable combination, and these combined services are being offered to clients.
Web conferencing extends the capability of the conference with the use of slides, interactive technical support and web tours that a corporation can use in its presentations. On the interactive side are various types of polling that provide the conference host with instant feedback. Fancy, but often important services provided by these teleconferencing specialists includes such important amenities as interpreters who will translate the proceedings in various languages, a huge help in conferences that include countries like India, China and many European countries. Some conferencing services also provide audio recordings of the proceedings; some even provide transcribers who will mail everyone a hard copy. Even if these services might seem pricey, they are hugely cost-effective when compared to the cost of physical meetings. Naturally, the prices vary according to how much service is required. Other than the essentials, it is theoretically possible to find conference call services or even in house talent to meet the needs of a smooth, efficiently run teleconference and economize at the same time.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Web Hosting
By admin | December 26, 2007
With the explosive growth of the Internet, the number of websites out there has multiplied exponentially. Back in February 2007, Netcraft conducted a survey and estimated 108,810,358 distinct websites. While this number may not be precise, it gives us an idea of scale of the Internet real estate. And that’s a lot of websites hosted somewhere. Hence, it’s not surprising that in the last few years the web hosting business has expanded and changed dramatically. With so many players in the field, the customer has come to benefit, in terms of price and value for money.
However, with choices, comes the associated issue of selecting the right web hosting service. Webmaster discussion forums across the web are constantly debating the pros and cons of hosting providers, as new ones sprout up on a regular basis and some old ones succumb to the cut throat competition.
Most commercial web hosting plans have a started packages starting at less than $10/month. In spite of the extremely low cost of ownership, some free hosting sites are still thriving, albeit barely.
When choosing a hosting provider, few critical elements have to be checked and compared before making the final decision. The factors to be looked at are a bit different for commercial hosting package compared to free web hosting packages.
For instance, if you are looking for a commercial hosting provider, some of the key things to look at are:
- Number of unique domains and sub domains that can be hosted
- Bandwidth (aggregated and for each domain hosted). Estimate what your websites might need and make sure you have bandwidth in excess of that. Some providers shut down your service when you exceed your bandwidth.
- Availability of cpanel or similar administrative front end.
- Email and support for web mail, POP3 and IMAP. While web mail and POP3 support is fairly standard, not everyone supports IMAP. If you need IMAP, make sure the ISP offers it.
- Uptime track record. Everybody claims “near 100%” uptime. Do some research, visit some webmasters forum and ask around for feedback from those who have used specific hosting services.
- Customer support availability. Ideally you need some sort of support 24/7. If you are running an online store and the site goes down in the evening, you don’t want to wait till the next morning for someone to fix it.
- Kind of server. Most servers are either Unix derivative or Windows based. If you need Microsoft applications support like ASP, you need to go for a Windows server.
Free web hosting providers, on the other hand, offer quite limited services and functionalities. You can’t really complain - it’s free after all. Most of them have a paid service that they try to upsell to you. The idea of providing free web hosting is to pull you into a funnel where they can continuously promote other products and services. Even if you never purchase into any of the offerings, they still make money from advertisements.
Most free web hosting providers have some sort of advertisement going on. In terms of web space, they might not offer space compared to the commercial ones, but typically it’s enough for your needs. It’s assumes that since you are looking for free hosting, your needs are fairly simple and non-commercial. However, you still want to make sure that you have reasonable bandwidth, ability to send/receive email and other utility modules (like calendar, tell-a-friend etc.) they support.
Over all, choosing the right web hosting service is like selecting anything else. You need to know what you are looking for, do due diligence and pick the one that’s best suited for your needs.

GPS tracking

One of women’s worst fears is to find out that their hubbies are cheating on them. Curiously though, some, perhaps for being overly obsessed by the fear of having a cheating husband, would go actually go out of their way to prove that such infidelity exists. What are these “tell-tale” signs doubtful wives look for in their husbands who are suspected of cheating? Let us count the ways as one post from one women’s website list these “symptoms” of infidelity —and it must be stressed that these are “their” list, not of the writer’s:
- Cheating husband doesn’t pay bills on time – if he’s careless about responsibilities, he must be careless about his relationships.
- Cheating husband is a do-gooder – they believe that people who become the worst cheaters are those having the highest moral standards.
- He’s rolling in dough – it’s not because they have more money to spend on mistresses, it’s because when they have less money, they depend on the relationship thus are less likely to ruin it.
- He’s a yeller – they believe that unfaithful partners show abusive characteristics. Those who are more likely to be abusive ones are more likely to be unfaithful.
- He is a narcissist – he is a mirror hog and so wrapped up in their own self-importance. They don’t consider the effect of his cheating on the wife.
One can’t help but scratch his head in disbelief with these distorted notions. One need not even explain the illogical assumptions; he gets too overwhelmed by their absurdity! A cheating husband is a cheater, period. There’s one characteristic of a philandering husband that should be prime on anyone’s list: he plays his cards well. He can easily get out of a tight spot so adeptly that while even one would find it impossible for him to evade being caught, he could always spin the most valid-sounding lie that sometimes would even border on being outrageously preposterous.
A cheating husband is a very good liar. That is his number one defense: a good lie for every act of wife cheating to cover his tracks.
Ladies, quit playing Sherlock Holmes. Catching him off-guard by trapping him with trick questions wouldn’t work. Calling him in the office to check on him wouldn’t lead you anywhere. He is good at covering his tracks, remember? And never blame or accuse an office-mate or a secretary for covering for him. More often than not, they too, are clueless about his philandering ways (or like you, are also suspicious but just couldn’t pin him down.)
When he comes home late at night, never ever expect to trap him in a corner and make him confess that the reason for his coming home late was because he was with his mistress. You will be surprised to know that he really was where he said he was (this is another trick of covering his tracks!)
A good way to ascertain if your husband is cheating on you is to hire a private detective. This however could be messy sometimes and even impossible. There are just some places where a private snoop could not have access thus he loses his quarry.
One good way of knowing if your husband is being unfaithful is by tracking his movements. Knowing his movement through gps tracking is way much economical than hiring a private eye. With GPS TRACKING, you can monitor his movement at all times. You can see where he is (his car), and how long he stayed there.
Gps tracking. can end your uncertainty. Remember that a mere suspicion of adultery could destroy a marriage, even when no one actually cheated.

GETTING YOUR WEBSITE ON LINE
By admin | December 18, 2007
Does your company need a website to get you out there where you can be found? Advertising in the usual ways doesn’t seem to cut it any more. Ads in the newspaper or radio station seem to get overlooked by the computer savvy sector which is really growing by leaps & bounds. Everybody is online for almost everything these days. Assuming you’ve decided to have a website, suddenly, there is a whole learning curve to master. You have to decide what you want your website to accomplish, sell, inform, or assist your potential customer to do.
After this step, the next one is to find a way to get your website on the internet where it can be found. You will need a web “host” who can place your site on the web and make it available to searchers. There are a lot of hosting companies offering this service for a price, and you will find that there are many variables to consider. Your search for the right host can be speeded up by checking a comparison service that provides web hosting reviews. The ability to campare various companies side by side, by price, by size and by many categories is a plus.
A first step in placing your site with a hosting company could be shared hosting. It is the most economical Many websites share the resources of one computer, so it is less expensive than having a computer all to oneself. If you want more service, there is the VPS version of hosting. Here the users of the service have a dedicated portion of the server to themselves, in an arrangement where they are walled off from the other users. The users work with the host to determine just how much of the server functions they require and the charges are based on this quantity. It is a help to compare the top vps sites using the helpful reviews when looking for hosting of this type.
Let’s say your company is expected to grow, or maybe it has already grown and needs more services You would likely need more space and would be able to afford the use of a computer completely dedicated to the enterprise. Costs would go up, obviously, with setup fees as well as the costs of using a complete server. You could save money with this arrangement by using your own expertise to administer the system.
Why not just buy your own server and find an existing host who will allow your server to be physically placed in their data center, allowing you full use of the infrastructure that is needed. This arrangement is called collocation, and the costs to you would mirror the advantages and flexibility. Great for an enterprise that can afford it!
You could also host your website yourself on your own computer. This would be free, of course, but you’d have to be savvy about the technical requirements.
Getting help to get your website on the internet is a challenge. There is a bewildering wealth of opportunities you can choose from. You can balance how much to pay a hosting company against all of their requirements and come up with a solution. Research up front is a true friend. It can save you expense and worry, not to mention down time. Your time and effort will pay off!!!

Turning Your Home Business Into An eBusiness
By admin | December 16, 2007
Transforming your business into an eBusiness isn’t as hard as you probably think it is. In order to make this dream a reality, you need to be able to envision the World Wide Wed as an actual store. For example, putting you CD store online. You will want the customers who check out your storefront to quickly have an idea of what you are offering. You are going to want them to be able to see your top sellers, your sales, your seasonal discounts and even your shipping rates. You will also want them to be able to quickly tell how to pay. And if you also incorporate a storefront shopping cart which will make it easy for them to browse around your store and purchasing what interests them. The same principles for running a successful store in a mall apply for an eBusiness as well. Since a lot of people are simply browsing, it is important for you to advertise your best deals or popular items. This can convince some people who may be on the fence to make a purchase. Play Games Online
By admin | December 8, 2007
After a long week in the office, how do you like to spend your free time? Possibly in front of the television, at the park, shopping, or playing games with friends and family. All of these are great escapes from the pressures and stresses of your every day routine. As a child, I remember sitting at my grandmothers’ table playing dominoes for hours. My cousins and I would play board & card games as well.
Although these sort of games are still a source of escape, free online games are the choice of relaxation for the computer minded generation. Playing games online is a world completely unimagined by the generations past. Who would have believed one would be playing against someone across the world? And one would never believe the variety of games. From classic games to car & racing games, there is something for everyone. People of all ages are choosing to spend their free time playing online games.
There are some critics concerning the amount of time people are spending in front of the computer. They take note of the empty and quiet streets where children once played. Where are they all now? They are at their computer playing games or communicating with friends online. The critics claim these children and teenagers are missing out on socialization, clean air, and exercise. Another observation by the critics is that adult players can easily become addicted to these games, leaving their “real life” behind. These players can become apathetic to their responsibilities, relationships, and personal well-being. The claim the amount of time they spend in their “fantasy world” prevents them from being a positive contributor to society.
Although the claims of the critics can be true for some, there are also many positive things about playing games. Playing games, such as extreme pamplona is a natural stress relief. It provides a short time to escape and simply be entertained; similar to a movie. It is also a social encounter as one competes with others and is meeting people from all over the world. Playing board games has a larger social dynamic, but online games can also fill this role. Many parents would prefer that his or her child be inside playing games, rather than outside unsupervised. When I was a kid, we would ride our bikes all over the neighborhood. Times have changed, and parents do not feel safe to allow their kids to venture too far.
As with everything, too much of a good thing is no longer a good thing. We can enjoy the games in balance with other forms of relaxation. Have fun with your friends and family either sitting at the kitchen table with your grandma, or competing with someone across the globe!

The Celts in the medieval age believed that by dancing around a bone-fire throughout the night of October 31st every year, which is the end of their bright and sunny summer season and entering into gloomy and dark winter ahead starting from 1st November, they are sure to drive away the devilish spirits.
